POAH works in partnership with the Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago and the Community Investment Corporation on the Renew Woodlawn Homeownership Program to help qualified homebuyers obtain assistance for home improvements and discounted purchase prices for architecturally significant neighborhood homes.
The Renew Woodlawn program offers grants and down-payment assistance and is focused on the area bounded by 60th St. on the north, 67th St. on the south, King Drive on the west, and Stony Island Ave. on the east. To date we have sold more than three dozen formerly vacant or distressed homes to first-time buyers and, in doing so, jump-started the market for owner-occupied homes in parts of Woodlawn.
The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the National Foreclosure Settlement Awards and the City of Chicago. POAH’s partners include the City of Chicago Department of Planning and Development, Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago Inc., and the Community Investment Corporation.
